Position Summary
The Upper School Lead Teacher works with the leadership of the school and in collaboration with the Lower School and Middle School lead teachers to develop and implement a quality learning experience for our students. The Lead Teacher plans, organizes and implements an appropriate instructional program at the Mary Francis Bachmann School that guides and encourages children to develop and fulfill their potential while engaging the family as an essential element in the success and development of every student.

Reports to: School Director / VP of Education
Responsibilities
- Plans, prepares and delivers lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning consistent with the philosophies and objectives of the Mary Francis Bachmann School.
- During the 2023-24 school year, when the program will be in a blended virtual-classroom with periodic class meeting mode, this position will plan for and manage both contexts.
- Develops assessments that measure student growth and establishes benchmarks to track long-term trends
- Assists students in the use of learning materials and age appropriate technology..
- Seeks innovative resources to be incorporated into the classroom and shared with colleagues.
- Sets high standards for an inclusive and caring classroom environment reflective of our values of compassion, inclusion, integrity, excellence, and collaboration.
- Seeks and takes advantage of professional development opportunities leading to furthering student engagement, learning, and student enrollment retention.
- Is knowledgeable of policies set forth in the community and employee handbook.
- Provides appropriate feedback on growth and development to children and families.
- Encourages and monitors the progress of individual students and uses information to adjust teaching strategies.
- Maintains accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
- Updates all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, policies and school regulations.
- Participates in school and parent meetings and special activities.
- Communicates information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
- Demonstrates preparation and skill in working with students from diverse and cultural backgrounds and with varying academic ability levels.
- Encourages parent and community involvement.
- Maintains compliance with regard to state, federal and CHI guidelines.
Education (including licenses, certifications):
- Bachelor’s degree required
- A state issued teaching credential preferred
Experience required and preferred:
- Experience in Upper or Middle education required
- Experience in leading co-curricular programs preferred
- Bi-Lingual (Spanish) an added bonus

- Physical Requirements: Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a hand-held learning device and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
